2017 Bo'ness Revival HillClimb
Chris and Ian Tomlinson took Italia #252 to the Bo'ness Revival Hillclimb in Scotland. The first photo shows them on startline of hillclimb regularity and the second after winning 'Best in Show' trophy. Congratulations to you both! And #252, of course. 2017 Vintage Triumph Register Annual Concours D’Elegance, Princeton, New Jersey, USA
Robin and Alan Anspaugh won "Best in Show" with Italia #122 at this year's VTR Concours held in Princeton, New Jersey. Princeton was the long time home to Albert Einstein, which proves you must be smart to own an Italia!

2017 TR Register Concours D’Elegance, Malvern, England
The annual TR Register Concours D'Elegance took place in the beautiful countryside around Malvern in the west of England. The weather was fantastic and the only thing to top that were the cars! Every TR and many other Triumphs graced the field. For Italia owners there were two Italias attending Graham Andrews #82 and Robin Lovell's #315. Robin's car was out on the field with the other Triumph-based marque's including the Swallow Doretti and Peerless. Graham's car was entered in the "Master Class" and walked away with “First in Class,” “Best Paint” and “Car of the Show.” It is a stunning car and was chosen for an article in the July issue of Classic Cars magazine. All in all a great weekend for Italias. Once again our cars were well represented at a major event and admired by all. Graham's stunning restoration will surely bring more attention to the Italia and goes on to represent the TR Register at the Meguiar’s stand at the upcoming NEC show. And a special "Thank you" from me to Pat MacMahon and all the guys in the Irish TR Register. They kindly invited my son and me to join them on their trip to the TR Register show. Pat had done an amazing job of organizing the ferry trip, hotel, tickets, dinners and directions. So, all I had to do was follow. Unfortunately, not in an Italia (or even a TR, though that was the original plan) but in a Rover 3500. Well, at least the engine would eventually power the TR8! Photos by Adrian P. Sinnott
2016 NEC Show, Birmingham, England
How do you follow up to driving across Europe in an Italia? You get six of them on a stand at the largest car show in the UK. Paul Harvey, the TR Register Italia Registrar, made this all possible by reserving a stand for the Italia at the 2016 NEC show in Birmingham. This three day event is a huge gathering of classic cars with practically every marque represented. I may be biased but I’d say that the Italia was the unexpected hit of the show. We even had a short visit from Sir Stirling Moss on his way to be interviewed next to Ken Richardson’s MVC-575 Jabbeke record-setting TR2. ALong with the cars, cartoonists Roger Penwill and Clive Collins created artwork to raise money for the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund (check out this page if you’re wondering what Audrey Hepburn had to do with the Italia). If you tried to explain the amount of work that went into setting up this extrordinary display of Italias, you would only receive a blank stare in return. The logisitcal nightmare of arranging for 6 Italias to appear at one place at the same time and accomodate their owners and a multitude of other Italia owners who made the trip just to be at the show was enormous. But Paul Harvey brought all together. Accomodation was arranged at the wonderful Ardencote Manor. How do you get a multitude of Italia owners to the NEC, in a 1937 Bristol single-deck bus, what else! What do you do when the bus driver can’t drive the bus, you drive it yourself! Read Guy Viel and Peter Johnston’s story of the show here and in French here.
2015 Italia Meet, La Morra, Italy
What a wonderful trip organized by Leo Ranner. One of those times when the only answer can be, “Checkbook be damned, we’re going!” Through the incredibly kind auspices of Paul Harvey, I didn’t have to rent a Yeti and got to drive to Italy from the UK in a 1967 TR4A. Almost a duplicate to the one I own in the States. Gathering in Norfolk we all headed out to Dover for an overnight ferry to Brittany. Once in France, we met up with Guy Viel and Peter Johnston in #244. Our convoy of two Italias and a TR4A headed across France to spend the night at the wonderful Château des Comtes des Charmes before heading over the Alps to Italy. The pass through the Alps had only recently opened and we had fabulous weather on our ride down to La Morra. Leo had arranged for everyone to stay at various B&Bs where even the smallest place seemed to have their own vineyard. Leo had a very special itinerary planned including a visit to the last Vignale factory, the National Motor Museum in Turin and a visit with Alfredo Vignale’s great niece, Mrs. Giuliana Vignale. Giuliana carries on the artistic tradition of her family painting portraits of the cars her great uncle built. And, of course, the food was fabulous, local restaurants made us all very welcome and lunch at the Pigna d’Oro in Pino Torinese included an exhibition of Giuliana’s work. Certainly a trip of a lifetime and all the attendees raised a glass of Barolo to Leo and Renate Ranner whose tireless efforts made the trip a reality.

Italia Meet, Lindau, Germany
Here are a few photos from the 2012 Triumph Italia meet in Lindau, Germany. 11 Italias, and one Swallow Doretti, a record for the number of Italias in one place since they left the factory. The meet was organized by the European Italia specialist, Leo Ranner. It was a wonderful event, a great chance to see many Italias up close and chat with other owners. Leo, along with his wife and son, Renate and Tassilo, were great hosts and saw to it that everyone had a fantastic weekend. Quite a sight to see all those Italias driving around beautiful Lake Constance, even if we were following along in a rented Skoda Yeti.
